NX-12 at the Utility Drive Trestle

Gently easing across the weak wooden trestle at the end of Utility Drive on the outskirts of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the Housatonic Railroad's NX-12 crew begins their trip down the final stretch of the Berkshire Line with 15 loads and 5 empties now in tow behind the train's EMD GP35 and GP35M power. With CSX Selkirk-Springfield manifest Q424 running an hour behind schedule, NX-12 would hold the Berkshire Line at CP150 until Q424 arrives at the yard to set out cars for NX-12's return to Canaan, Connecticut. The tie structure underneath the trestle does not support the bridge, but is rather there as a safety if it were ever to fail.
