The outbound unit slurry train here at North Bennington Vt. has been the victim of an extended "shuffle" before its departure. The expected leader of the five units was to be MEC 618, but was found to be non-compliant and for trailing use only. After some late day maneuvering the 317 was parsed from the lineup -- wyed -- and regained its status as "lead dog." The expected recrew by AD-2 was sent elsewhere, so the slurry's proposed "launch" was postponed to after sunset. A gorgeous May day brought out both the fishermen and sunbathers as they line the Paran Causeway -- oblivious to the action happening in the background on the remnants of the Rutland Chatham line basking in the sun's radiance.
