Parking for...Not New York CityThis is The Parking Garage in Downtown Augusta Maine. Just below it is the former Lower Road that ran from Waterville, to Brunswick Junction. This line I was told had Automatic block signals line at all times and was a Faster route to use than the mostly Dark Territory back road though Winthrop, Leeds and Lewiston/Auburn.The Maine Rail Group had a meeting with the City Council last Year and at that time the "City Manager" said before trains will run again through the City the Parking Issue would have to be addressed. He also noted that The Foundation of the parking garage was designed to accommodate more parking levels. The track is currently buried in gravel to make "parking spaces" for downtown business and shoppers. If you could take a train to the right of this it would lead you to the Waterville Yard to Bangor and eventually Canada but I guess that is important enough to get the parking garage built up and return passenger service to the Capital City an "Original Value/Set of Goals" Of Trainriders Northeast but has swiched there plans to go South to New York City! What about the State of Maine? the people who helped bring the train to Maine and expand the Service through Maine not NYC? Just as a note if you did take the Current Downeaster it will bring you to Boston Mass and then you can connmect to goto New York City but not Maine's Capital City.
