Newer rail crossing near the Sanitation Department in Downtown Augusta, Maine. This is where the upcoming rail speeder trip will come to an end. For information: NEREX (New England Rail Excursions) will be operating on the Maine Eastern Rails, June 20th thru June 22nd. Friday, their cars will begin at Bowdoinham, progress north, on the Lower Road, (stopping in Gardiner) to Augusta and return to Brunswick for the night. Saturday will have them progressing eastbound to Rockland, overnight, then return to Brunswick on Saturday. The trip is fully booked, so there should be plenty to see as they pass by. It will be good to see action along the lower road, and for others to see something other than freight (and passenger) trains.
