Guilford OCS...1

On June 27, 1989 Guilford ran an inspection train over the former New Haven RR. Highland Div. between Waterbury and Berlin, CT. At Berlin the train reversed direction and ran north up the Amtrak Springfield Line to Springfield where it returned to home rails on the Conn River line. The trip commemorated the completion of track work on the line by Guilford with aid from CDOT. Guilford acquired the route from ConRail in June, 1982. The train made a stop in Forestville for comments by Guilford's David Fink and Colin Pease. They were joined by William Burns of CDOT. The train is seen here exiting the defile on the rerouted portion of the line near Hancock Brook flood control reservoir, the construction of which caused the reroute.
