Rahway Moveable Bridge (Rolling Bascule or Scherzer Rolling Lift Bridge)

We all know I'm fascinated with bridges, and we all know i'm a railfan. So, I like to combine my two interests!

Here is the Rahway Moveable Bridge. It is manned only during summer months. There is talk of making it automated control..

To get to this location, requires walking a significant distance though a river side park and walkway. When we first arrived here, we noticed several pieces of maintenance of way equipment on the tracks about 3/4 of a mile north.

Thinking with the M.O.W. equipment on the right of way, there would not be any trains anytime soon, so we left to go to Elizabeth, NJ.
