Flying Yankee

The controls of the Flying Yankee. It looks like a close relative of the K controller. It almost looks identical to the ones that are in Boston type 5 streetcars, but I'm not sure if it is the same or not.

Railroads and the manufacturers were very conservative and tended to use proven items that they knew would work when introducing new technology. Witness the use of standard 600 volt DC traction motors in all early diesels, the standard voltage for trolley cars for decades.
