THE PAWTUCKET-CENTRAL FALLS STATIONThe New Haven ALCO PA-1, DL-109 pair are leaving the Central Falls side of the station that was built over the Central Falls, Pawtucket city line in 1916 to eliminate the grade crossings in the vicinity. The original Providence & Worcester RR line went to the left directly into the center of Pawtucket but the new line was depressed and moved about 750 feet north of the old Pawtucket station. The station was closed in 1960 but it can not be easily removed and there has been controversy over a solution ever since. The white spots are the remains of snow.
