Blue Mountain Boomers

The units that make up the current Reading & Northern locomotive fleet are all "boomers", that is, they have migrated to and from different railroads. Three of them are waiting for their next run at the R&N shops in Port Clinton, Pa.

SD38DC #2004 (left) began its career as Detroit, Toledo & Ironton #254, then became Grand Trunk Western #6254 when that railroad acquired the DT&I.

SD40-2s #3052 and #3056 (right) both came out of the Union Pacific family. The 3052 was originally Missouri Pacific #6072, then UP #3972; the 3056 began life as UP #3440.
