Grand Trunk Western 4-6-2 5629, Bellevue, Michigan, Summer 1953

This is the legendary No. 5629, which later had a career on steam fan trips before being scrapped in Chicago. Here she is substituting for the usual Consolidation on the local freight, in a break-in run after being shopped at Battle Creek. Photographed with Kodak folding cartridge camera on size 116 film. For more of my steam photos from the 1950s, visit my Rail Archive (www.railarchive.net).

Photographed by Dr. Richard Leonard, July, 1953.
Added to the photo archive by Dr. Richard Leonard, October 10, 2008.
Railroad: Grand Trunk Western.
