O&W Fallsburgh Tunnel, NYThis is the east portal of the O&W's Fallsburgh Tunnel. Like all tunnels on the O&W, it was single-tracked. During the O&W's heyday when most of the main line from Scranton to Cornwall was double-tracked, tunnels like this were bottlenecks and required tower operators at both ends to maintain traffic flow. It's hard to believe that this remote path in the Catskills was once a throbbing artery for passenger and freight trains.
