Rutland Milk Train, Thompsons Point, Vermont, 1923 On a cloudy day my father took this "experimental" photo of Rutland 4-6-0 No. 74 and southbound Train 88, a milk train, passing the "depot" at Thompsons Point near Charlotte, Vermont. The "depot" was just a shelter for the flag stop here. People who had summer cottages ("camps" in New England lingo) at Thompsons Point could get on or off the Rutland trains. My grandparents owned a cottage at Deer Point (part of Thompsons Point) and the family would take the train from here to Boston and their home in Newtonville, Mass. Photographed by R. D. Leonard, July, 1923. Added to the photo archive by Dr. Richard Leonard, June 5, 2007. Railroad: Rutland. Dr. Richard Leonard's awards: | |
