VIA Rail Advance Train........May 1985

Units FPA-4 # 6772 and FPB-4 # 6864 are the power for a VIA Rail Special Advance train, at Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick. The train had stopped at various locations in Quebec, Maine and New Brunswick to give the public a sneak preview of services to be available, with the return of regular service ( between Montreal and Halifax N.S. ), June 01st, 1985...........Train's # 11& 12, The Atlantic.

On November 15th, 1981, The Atlantic was one of six routes to be cut on VIA's system. At the same time, the capital city of Fredericton, N.B. received direct passenger service, in the form of Rail Diesel Cars ( RDC's ), to Halifax. The line to Fredericton is visible behind the group of onlookers, on the right..........this service to Halifax lasted until June 01st, 1985.
