Under Different Wires...

The West Chester (Pa.) Railroad's #9124 operates under a much different set of catenary wires these days than in its first incarnation as a Reading Company EMU. In its commuter heyday, the coach traveled throughout the road's commuter train network out of Philaelphia's Reading Terminal.

Today, as a cab-coach for the WCRR, it runs along the outer end of the old PRR West Chester Branch, between West Chester and Glen Mills. SEPTA still owns the line and has left the catenary in place, but operates regular service only as far as Elwyn, just west of Media. WCRR's motive power includes an ex-PRR GP9 and an ex-CPR RS18.
