This satellite photo, taken in April 2004, has been marked to show the area of the CMRR that was washed out in April, 2005 between MP 27.9 and MP 28. The deepest part of the washout is just before MP 28.

The county and state governments will eventually repair this section of Esopus Creek, to prevent further erosion in future floods, and when that happens the CMRR will reinstall the track. The rails are currently suspended in mid-air.

We plan to clear out the ROW in this area at some point next year to better assess the damage and potential repairs for the railroad, and may remove the rails suspended in mid-air and put them in storage.
