What we are looking at is the continued hard work of the Connecticut Railroad Museum Volunteers.

Since the time this photo was taken, on Columbus Day, the crossing has been completed with the exception of raising the driveway (under where I am standing) to match the height of the crossing.

As we are looking at the crossing:
-The nearest track is the old Airline Main, which used to go to New Haven, Cedar Hill Yard, via Middletown, in the direction we are viewing and Boston, South Station in the other direction.
-The next track over is the passing siding which will join back into the Airline main, just before it crosses the Willimantic River. Off the passing siding will be the track leading to the 60 foot long Armstrong Turntable in front of the Columbia Junction Roundhouse.
-The third track will lead to the Ashpit, which you can barely see behind the yellow trailer. We are thinking of adding a switch to this track to give rise to a caboose track alongside the Ashpit.
-The far track is our mainline though our village, during the NYNH&H years there was also a track located here to connect the Midland division track (from Hartford, Ct) with the Airline Junction Yard, which is located alongside our entrance driveway.
