Sydney Coal Railway International Pier

An SCR train loads on the loop at the International Pier, in Whitney Pier, NS. This facility was origionally built to export coal from Cape Breton, but with the closure of the mines, Nova Scotia Power buys coal on the international market, and then transports from here to local power plants. The SCR uses locomotives and hopper cars formerly owned by the Cape Breton Development Corporation (DEVCO).
