Stormy Day on the Mountain

At the end of a stormy late-summer day on Mount Washington, the Cog R.R. trains make their ways down the mountain. On this day I'd hiked to the top only to bail on my plans for hiking down. I bought a one-way on the Cog to get down. The passenger car was "Standing room only" with other hikers who'd made the same decision. We with the mudcovered boots who smelled of bug repellent and granola mix became as much a novelty for the tourists as the train itself. They thought we were crazy to want to climb the mountain at all, when we could've taken the train or driven up. Some just don't understand...
