Central Vermont

The VT 78 crossing of the northern tip of the New England Central in East Alburgh VT in the middle of Lake Champlain. To the left out of view was a wye which split the ex-CV lines for the line to Cantic QC (the line crossing here) or the line across a second trestle to Rouses Point NY (abandoned decades ago). The Montrealer plied this route until 1995. Today's Vermonter only goes to Saint Albans, but freights still use this line today.

Photographed by Jay Hogan, August, 2005.

Railroad: New England Central/Central Vermont.
