I took this picture in 1989 of now-retired, ex Norfolk Southern SD-45, then Springfield Terminal #676, heading an eastbound freight just west of Sandy Pond Road crossing in Ayer. The train was just catching the low morning sun. It is still cold and you can see the frost on the ties.
