Study in black

On another day, the 3020 rested outdoors on its storage track at Charles Street Roundhouse in Providence, R.I. Route 146 now occupies the site where the road merges with I-95.
David Lamson tells me the "3020 was in snow-melter service at the end of its career. The engine was made available for preservation and display to various towns in Massachusetts and Connecticut, but there were no takers and she was eventually scrapped." He adds, "The same thing happened to a Boston & Maine Pacific. It was made available as a display in Salem, Mass., but the deal fell through and it was scrapped."
