Central Vermont Tender 4268 @ Palmer, MAThis is CV Tender 4268 resting in Palmer, MA in the late 1950's. The tender appears as if it may have once been a coal tender, then later converted to a water tender??? It is smaller than most coal tenders. This was a custom job done by the railroad shop crews. The CV cut down some tenders that were surplus towards the end of steam to use as extra water on work trains so the work crews could stay out on the line longer before having to head to a water tank.
Special thanks to Michael LaCasse who provided me with some historical info on the old tender!
