Cedar Hill Local, 6233 & 6211, 7:30 pm 9/5/03

Just a little after work train watching at Cedar Hill.

6233 is parked on the house track with a gon while her sister 6211 assembles train for either Friday night or Saturday morning Delivery

Lucked out on this one, the FRED is even lit (red light in the coupler area).

Apparently either all the locals or at least when in the yard, CSX runs the double end trains with 2 FREDs (Flashing Rear End Device). One on the nose of each Locomotive for FRA rules and Safety. Also it seems to be linked into the reverser control, when 6211 was parked or backing down into the cars it was flashing, and when she were running forward it was off.
