This Chicago, Alton and Southern Switcher #1509B was photographed at the National Railway Equipment Company Facility in Blue Island, Illinois. The NREC buys old diesels from Class 1 Railways and either refurbs them to sell to shortlines or scraps them and salvages useful parts.
