MEC at Rockland 1956

A Maine Central passenger train is ready to depart Rockland in the summer of 1956. The photographer had accompanied his father to pick up his bicycle which had just arrived from New Jersey by Railway Express. After years of neglect, Tourist line Maine Eastern has now restored passenger service to this location, at least in Summer. No REA, though - and no through cars to Boston, yet!

Photographed by N. Kent Loudon, July, 1956.
Added to the photo archive by N Kent Loudon, November 10, 2002.
Railroad: Maine Central.
