Train through Bolton Notch, CT

This is a photo that can never again be seen again in Bolton Connecticut. This photo was taken in 1906. I did not take the photo but got it from another website. This is a sad site as a photo taken today would have no tracks, no trians, no sounds of whistles. This is the same line that CSO runs on in Manchester, they only operate up to the grainery there and the track is still in good shape up to Lydall. From there the tracks are buried and gone all the way up to Bolton Notch and into Willimantic. The old road on the right is still there now grown in with weeds. The old station site is long gone, now grown in with trees and prickly bushes. The station can be seen off to the right. The tunnel that goes under the highway is still there, now covered with shameful graffiti. Not much is left on this old rail line. The only horns and whistles that you can here is CSO where trains cross Main Street in Manchester, the horn can only be heard if the wind is blowing right. Currently, then only parts of this line that are being used are in Manchester, and Willimantic. I would really appreciate more modern photoes from the 60-70's. If you have any please post.
