Horseshoe Curve.At the time, it was the new EMD SD-45s, which had the looks, the horsepower and the railfan attention. SD-40s, whose superstructure did not match their under frame as well, were an acquired taste. They and Dash 2 descendants, however, would come to dominate North American locomotion for almost two decades. Pennsy used burning ties to deter railfan photography.
