604 w/Loaded Limestone + 316 w/ Local Freight = ONE HUGE NA-1Stuff you don't see everyday in Manchester NH Yard. First, 316 arrived in the overnight as a very lengthy (for these rails) NA-2 with local freight. The second item had a lot of firsts, first time for 604 on these rails, first time for a Pan Am SD40-2 on these rails since April 2014, and the first significant train delivery to the coal plant in Bow since November 2016. 604 pulled the limestone unit train with about 30 or so cars.
What eventually happened was both 604 and 316 in tandem, along with both loads with the limestone in front, and local freight in the back, and headed north to Bow with a 50+/- car train and made the first substantial delivery into the Coal Plant since the last coal train arrived in November 2016.
The NA-1 crew left the local freight south of the River Road crossing, and took the limestone loads into the plant. Then the crew took both engines back to the River Road crossing, and left 604 in the Perini Siding, and then headed north with the local train with only 316.
Nice to see this kind of activity, and hope this is a sign of things to come.
