I've long owned an original July 1958 edition of the Official Guide, perhaps my most prized RR book. But I wasn't sure how I came to possess it. While digitizing my Dad's old RR photography, I think I learned how it happened. It's the summer of either 1958 or 1959 and I'm the waif sitting on the tailgate of REA truck parked at the Lackawanna\'s Owego NY station as my Dad captures the moment that Phoebe Snow's Tavern Lounge Observation passes as it departs for Vestal and points east. And sitting next to me on the deck is the well worn July '58 Guide that apparently the Lackawanna station agent no longer needed and donated to us. It is even more worn now...
