Brand new EMD GP39-2 teamed up with MK rebuild RS3u and newly acquired Reading GP39-2 in Binghamton, NY shortly after the startup of Conrail in April 1976. The D&H was in such need of motive power to cover the expanded territory it was operating that as units arrived they were put in service without having the D&H logos painted on the units cab fronts or sides.
