The location is Yorba Linda, California. Decades earlier the line was ATSF's single track Third District near Esperanza station. The dense orchards of that day have evolved into high priced real estate. Like a lot of railfan spots in Southern California, first priority is finding a shady parking place. Here a suburban shopping plaza fills the bill. A bus stop cross walk helps one get across a busy street and in position to clamber over the three tracks and up the hill. It didn't seem so long ago, that lawn chairs, a cooler and some music would complete the "ambience" for a long afternoon visit. Post Y2K, however, with the back fence of some nice homes on Esperanza Drive about ten feet to the left, railfan M.O. has undergone a certain amount of revision.
