CN U-1-b 4-8-2 AT GRAND TRUNK'S PORTLAND STATION

6017 is on a photo line the Grand Trunk posed for fans on April 22, 1956 in Portland, Maine. The occasion was the last B&M mainline steam trip which terminated this day at the B&M/MEC Union Station across town. A Canadian National U-1 4-8-2 was common power on the Montreal train but on June 15, 1956 the last regular steam powered GT passsenger train left Portland behind a CN Pacific. GT was the legal name for CN lines in New England.
