NYC Eastbound Train @ Palmer,MAAnother late 1950's photograph. Eastbound NYC passenger train preparing to stop at the Palmer,MA station. The engine on point appears to be an NYC FA-1. This scene is much different today. The double track turns to single track right before the CV crossover. The signal to the right is gone, the platform to the right is gone. The platform to the left is shortened but currently being restored. The overhang is gone, who knows if it will be rebuilt??!? The NYC trains no longer stop here. The NYC no longer exists. So since this late 1950's photograph, alot has changed at Palmer. Everything looks so neat in this picture. The tracks on the right are now owned and operated by MASS Central, but Amtrak and NECR have trackage rights over them.
Keep tuned to nerail, more palmer pictures to come!!!!
