NJT Transit Shoving East from Benson St., Glen Ridge, NJNJT 4176 (U34CH) does a mediocre imitation of the RS-3's it had replaced years before as it shoves an eastbound train away from the former Erie Benson St. Station in Glen Ridge, NJ. Notice that the bench in front of the depot proudly displays the 'ERIE' name some 33 years after the Erie Lackawanna merger. Remarkably the depot remains today, apparently as a private residence after finally having the obvious late 1980's fire damage repaired. Track 2, on which the train is departing is just a memory, but track 1 remains but is unused, as no customers remain between the switch at the end of the 2002 Montclair connection and the permanently open West Arlington swing bridge over the Passaic River just east of North Newark. That substantial Erie bench has disappeared, as has the NJ Transit 'bus stop' shelter, which appeared to offer no seating. The locomotive has about 1 more year to serve; the track about 9 years.
