the JitneyThis little train of an ex-New Haven Alco S1 and a heavyweight coach sitting in light snowfall was known as the "Jitney". It ran between the New Haven passenger station and Cedar Hill Yard for the benefit of employees at shift change times and lasted into the early 1970s. It was reported at the time to be one of the last two employee-only accommodation trains of its type left in the country, the other serving the Rock Island's Silvis shops in the Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities.
