In 1993, Amtrak brought an ABB X2000 train set to the US for evaluation. In May 1993, a demo roundtrip between Boston and Providence ran and the public was invited to buy tickets to see what HSR in the US might look like. Given catenary had yet be strung on the NEC between New Haven and Boston, Turbotrain pwer was used. It was a very nice train and excursion.
