In keeping with her age, Canadian Pacific A2q 4-4-0 144 built in 1886 is being coaled at the Chipman, N.B., bucket loader which was mainly a manual operation although the coal buckets were lifted by compressed air. The loader was adequate for the need. Chipman was at the end of another CPR branch and larger engines came here but I think that the 4-4-0's which operated to Norton were the only ones to use the bucket loader (and usually only one a day) since the larger engines could be coaled elsewhere. The 4-4-0's overnight terminal in Norton did not have a coaling facility.
